Bacton is a small seaside village with two pubs, a fish and chip shop, two shops, and a small amusement arcade all of which are within walking distance from the cottage. The two pubs, The Ship and The Duke of Edinburgh, both serve food. The Duke of Edinburgh serves an excellent carvery on Sundays (booking advised). There is also good sea fishing from the beach and the cottage has a lock up shed for any equipment. For the passing tourist, Bacton does not have any easy parking facilities or signposted access to the beach, which means that the beaches are reasonably quiet compared with many of the North Norfolk beaches. Facing the sea, if you turn right you can walk to Walcott, less than a mile away. The sea defence is fully built between Bacton and Walcott which means that you can opt to walk this on a hard concrete surface rather than the sand if you prefer.

The cottage itself is suitable for four people, plus a cot can be put out on request. Downstairs there is a large open plan living/kitchen/dining area. This open plan living area can be seperated into lounge and kitchen diner if guests want to feel cosy when lighting the open fire (coal and logs available to purchase at the cottage). The bathroom is downstairs and has a shower over the bath. Upstairs there is a twin bedroom and a double bedroom. The beds have duvets and bed linen is included in the cost of your holiday. There is also gas central heating throughout. Equipment includes oven, fridge, microwave, television with video player, DVD player, radio player, washing machine, iron and ironing board. You will need to bring your own towels and tea towels. There is a selection of videos and DVD 's and various games. The cottage also has its own nearby parking space literally at the top of the steps from the beach, adjoining the row of cottages. |
